Tawanda Elayne Prince

Tawanda Prince, lovingly known as “The Good Life Coach,” was a proud native of New York whose life was a powerful testament to purpose, faith, resilience, and joy. She was a devoted, gifted woman of God. Tawanda was a mother, author, teacher, mentor, speaker, musician, singer, painter, saleswoman, and content creator whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Tawanda was a dynamic and engaging voice in the spaces she entered. Known for her “spicy,” humorous, and conversational style, she had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and personally connected. Whether speaking to a crowd or having a one-on-one conversation, she delivered messages that were sharp, relevant, and deeply thought-provoking. Her mission was simple yet profound: to help others discover and walk in “The Good Life.” Her journey to that mission was shaped by both triumph and trial. In January 1999, Tawanda experienced four heart attacks and underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery. During that time, she died twice and was brought back to life. What could have been the end became her turning point. That life-changing experience propelled her out of her comfort zone and into what she called the “possibility zone,” ultimately revealing her purpose to guide others toward lives of meaning, intention, and faith. Tawanda was a highly accomplished educator, earning a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bowie State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from CUNY Hunter College. She taught at both the high school and college levels and was nationally recognized in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 1996. She was also a member of the Gamma Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Beyond the classroom, she was a sought-after motivational speaker and facilitator for personal, professional, and spiritual development. As a certified Life Breakthrough Coach through the Biblical Coaching Alliance, she poured into countless lives, helping others navigate their journeys with clarity and purpose. A gifted writer and creative, Tawanda was the author of eight empowering books, including The Good Life, Wonderful Words of Life, Thunder Knocking at My Heart, Seasons of Myself, Echoes of My Mind, The Good Life Plan Master, Thunder Knockin at My Heart - The Silver Lining, and Morning Glory: A Prayer Journey. She also wrote and produced two gospel stage plays, Timeless: A Soulful Christmas Musical and Put a Ring on It! Her artistic expression extended even further as a poet, singer, songwriter, drummer, actress, and radio host, with numerous television, radio, and stage appearances. Tawanda also shared her gifts through Mary Kay, bringing beauty, confidence, and encouragement into the lives of others in her own unique way. Outside of her professional accomplishments, Tawanda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved painting, singing, writing, and performing. She cherished quiet moments at the beach, watching the birds, and she never turned down White Castle. Above all, she treasured time with her children. In 2024, Tawanda moved back to Maryland to be near her beloved children, Javon and Sarah, who were the center of her world. Tawanda’s life was a living message: that even through hardship, purpose can be found, and a meaningful, fulfilling life is always within reach. She believed deeply that “if you live your life with purpose, the possibilities for” The Good Life” are endless,” and she dedicated her life to helping others believe that too. As an only child, Tawanda is preceded in death by Adolphus and Rosalind Brathwaite and leaves behind two children, numerous cousins, other family, and a bounty of friends. Her legacy of faith, creativity, resilience, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Thank you!
