Tributes

Phyllis Delores was born on February 21st, 1945, in Howard County to late Andrew and Rachel Rollins. She peacefully transitioned on February 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. At an early age, Phyllis accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a devoted member of Gospel Tabernacle Baptist Church, where her faith remained steadfast throughout her life. Phyllis was educated in Howard County and graduated from Harriet Tubman High School. She later built a strong and admirable career, dedicating 40 years of service to the Social Security Administration before retiring. Prior to her professional career, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family. Phyllis, frequently adorned in gloves and a head dress/crown, was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Most Worship Prince Hall Grand Lodge, P. H. A., Maryland Its Jurisdiction, Incorporated, Myra Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Coordinate and Appendant Bodies of the Maryland Prince Hall Family for over forty years. Through her masonic work and community dedication, she built lasting friendships, sisterhood, and philanthropic excellence in support of many. Known as the life of the party, Phyllis had a vibrant personality that drew people to her. She was friendly, welcoming, and a natural host. She loved to bowl competitively and enjoyed golfing, traveling the open road on trips and cruises, hosting cookouts, and spending quality time with family and friends. Music filled her open-door home and her heart- she had a special love for Luither Vandross and cherished classic oldies. She was united in marriage to the late Charles Louis Butler Sr., and together they built a legacy rooted in love, and strength. She was preceded in death by her children Reneal Butler and Yvette Butler- Joyce, and her siblings Doris Alexander, Bessie Dailey, Elwood Rollins, Howard Rollins and Andrew Rollins. Phyllis leaves to cherish her loving memory: her siblings Emma Matthews, Burda Rollins, and Kenneth Rollings; her children Renee Rollins, Dainelle (Robert), Charles Jr. (Dionne), Ronald, Ellen, and Grant (Vanessa) Butler; and a host of grandchildren including Darrien, Derell, Dameion, JaLiyah, Janae, Anayiah, & Aunya Butler, Taylor Snow, Rasaan Jones, Lanine Swann, Ronese Dottin, and Quentin Vennie, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extend family members, and dear friends. She will be remembered for her strong spirit, contagious smile, unwavering faith, and the joy she brought into every room she entered. Her legacy of love, service, leadership, and celebration of life will continue through all who were blessed to know her.
