Nikia Gardner

Nikia S. Gardner, born on June 4, 1982, peacefully departed this life on March 7, 2026. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Robin Ann Gardner and Tony Dawes. Nikia was educated in the Baltimore County Public School system. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a foundation that remained with her throughout her life. Known for her warm spirit and vibrant personality, Nikia was truly one of a kind. She had a gift for making others laugh, often cracking jokes and effortlessly imitating just about anyone. Her playful skits alongside her cousins and family members especially her spot-on impressions of her grandparents, Robert and Betty Jean Gardner—brought joy and laughter to all who witnessed them. In addition to her humor, Nikia was a talented dancer who could hold her own with even the best on the dance floor. Nikia also took great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. She was known for her willingness to lend a helping hand, often taking on cleaning jobs for loved ones simply out of kindness and a desire to support those around her. Her caring nature extended deeply into her role within the family. She was trusted and cherished as a caregiver, often looking after the children of her older cousins, Alease, Vernice, and Dynia. They knew that in Nikia’s care, their children would be safe, nurtured, and well cared for, and that their homes would be kept with love and order. Nikia shared deeply meaningful bonds with those closest to her. She had a special and unbreakable connection with her cousin, Dichelle Charles, whom she affectionately referred to as “Shell Shock,” as well as close and cherished relationships with her cousins Martitez Weems and Melinda Johnson, lovingly known as “Mindy.” These relationships were filled with love, laughter, and understanding, and were a significant part of her life. She also shared a unique and special bond with each of her brothers, relationships that were rooted in love, loyalty, and lifelong connection. Above all, Nikia’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother who cherished her children deeply. Through life’s challenges, her love remained constant, resilient, and unwavering. She poured her heart into her children, always striving to provide comfort, care, and affection. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her cherished granddaughter, Dream Gardner, who held a special place in her heart and brought her great joy. Nikia was preceded in death by her cousin, Dichelle Charles, and her father. She leaves to mourn her three children, Terrence Gardner, Zi’Aire Gardner, and Tyler Gardner; her loving mother, Robin Ann Gardner; her brothers, Andre Gardner, Vonte Gardner Gaffney (Yahsmin Gaffney), William Gardner and Broderick Gardner; her precious granddaughter, Dream Gardner; one niece, Lyric Reed; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. Nikia will be remembered for her laughter, her love, her strength, and the light she brought into the lives of so many. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
