Surrounded by the love she poured into the world, DR. MARGO J. YOUNG-JENKINS entered her eternal rest on December 2, 2025. Born on July 22, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the cherished youngest child of Arthur Lee and Margaret Jackson. Giving her life to the Lord at a young age, Margo’s life was marked by unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and a heart committed to serving others—qualities that illuminated every space she entered. Margo was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Edmondson High School in 1968. She went on to attend what is now Notre Dame of Maryland University and later began her 44-year career as an educator in 1973. Throughout her career, she served with distinction at Mt. Royal Middle School, Forest Park High School, Fallstaff Middle School, Western High School, and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Within the Baltimore City Public Schools Headquarters, she held various influential roles, including Government Relations, Coordinator of Cultural Activities, Blum Mentor, Coordinator of New Teacher Induction, and member of the Teacher/Principal Quality Team. Her commitment to education and mentorship shaped countless students and educators. She continued her own academic journey, earning a Master of Arts from Notre Dame of Maryland in 1990, and later completing an MA in Biblical Studies and an Ed.D. in Christian Education in 2013. In 1981, Margo married Barry K. Young after meeting him at the Mayor’s Office of Manpower Resources. Together, they raised their family in faith and served faithfully at The Beth-El Temple Church of Christ, where they led the Marriage and Family Enrichment Committee. After Barry’s passing in 2021, God blessed Margo with love again. She married Karl Jenkins in 2023, and together they shared joy, companionship, and new adventures. A true lady in every sense, Margo was known for her warmth, elegance, and hospitality. Her home was always open filled with love, perfectly set tables, and sweet treats for expected and unexpected guests. She especially cherished holiday gatherings, with Christmas being her favorite season. Her generosity shined brightest as she lovingly prepared gifts for children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren (Nana loved her grandbabies), and even surprise visitors. Margo was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Arthur Jackson Jr. and James Brickus, and her sister Margaret Brickus. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Karl Jenkins; children, Bolivia “Bo” Villanova, CPT, USA Ret. (Riina), Minister Damien “Omar” Villanova, Gunnery Sergeant, USMC Ret. (Tannis, USMC Veteran), Carita Lucine Young-ChinOnn (Shane), Margaret Theresa Young, SPC, US Army Veteran (Morgyn) and Lawrence Ace Young; grandchildren, Dakwon Menefee Sr., SFC US Army (Miranda), Cameron Villanova, PO2, USN, Olivia Villanova, Lauryn Villanova, Isaiah Villanova, Lydia Villanova, Charlotte “Charlie” ChinOnn and Xavier ChinOnn; great-grandchildren, Dakwon Menefee Jr. and Isabella Menefee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, church family, former students, and friends. Dr. Margo J. Young-Jenkins lived a life full of love, purpose, and faith. Her legacy of kindness, service, and excellence will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
