It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of LEROY HOPETON RICHARDS, who departed this life on Sunday, July 12,2026. Leroy was born in Portland, Jamaica, to Catherine Stewart and Patrick Richards. He attended St. Margaret Bay Public School and later finished his education at Forest Park High School. After high school he took some college courses at CCBC before committing to Giant Food full time. In 1978, Leroy migrated to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities and a better life with his family. Through hard work and determination, he built a legacy with entrepreneurship creating generational wealth that his children will continue to stand on. A man of many talents, Leroy was known for his dedication and loyalty. Devoting 40 years at Giant Food, he put in a lot of long hours and hard work. He made some good relationships along his tenure that he will forever cherish. Leroy was an aspiring actor and singer with lead roles in multiple plays. Along with recommitting his life to Christ and building a strong foundation with his church. He was a family man who loved his children and wanted to stay committed as a family. Furthermore, Leroy was also a businessman, investing into himself by obtaining properties throughout Baltimore City. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail earned him a deep respect within his community and among all who worked with him. Leroy leaves to cherish his memory: his three beloved children, Brandon Richards, Miracle Richards, and Jiselle Richards; along with his daughter-in-law, Shannon Richards. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Stewart; his loving siblings, Beverly Lewis, Evadney Morgan, Glenford Morgan, Evol Morgan, Nethlyn Campbell, Balford Richards, and Derrick Richards; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his siblings Renford Richards and Yvonne Brown and his father Patrick Richards. Leroy will be remembered for his tenacity, strength, fairness, contagious Laughter and unwavering Love for his family. his spirit will continue to Live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
