Alice Jones

Alice Marie Jones (Ramsey), 78, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, with her devoted husband of 55 years by her side. Born on June 2, 1947, in Granville County, North Carolina, Alice was the beloved daughter of Boyd and Daisy Ramsey. She spent her early childhood in North Carolina until age eight, when her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She later attended and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School and went on to spend a year at Morgan State University. With a sharp mind and a steady work ethic, Alice built a distinguished 37-year career in systems analytics at the Social Security Administration, where she was respected for her insight, reliability, and grace under pressure. In 1970, Alice married the love of her life, James's “Jay” Jones. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering faith as they raised their daughter, Sheree. Alice’s family was her heart, and she poured her energy into nurturing, guiding, and celebrating those she loved. Her brothers and sisters were her world, and she treasured the lifelong friendships that enriched her life and brought her joy. Alice will be remembered for her friendship, wisdom, gentle strength, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She was a longtime and faithful member of Central Church of Christ in Baltimore, MD, and lived her Christian faith through quiet acts of generosity and compassion, offering encouragement, hospitality, and a listening ear whenever it was needed. She had a gift for making people feel welcome—her home was a gathering place where family and friends were always greeted with good food, open arms, and genuine conversation. She delighted in hosting holidays, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She is survived by her husband, Jay; her daughter, Sheree Jones; her stepdaughter, Myra Jackson, and son in law, Carl Jackson; granddaughters Jordan Jackson Marsh and granddaughter-in-law Maggie Marsh Jackson, Morgan Jackson; grandson Theo Brown; sisters Shirley Cartwright and Octavie Scott; brother Michael O. Ramsey and sister in law Deborah; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Daisy Ramsey, and siblings Donnell Ramsey, Elaine Jayson, Lorraine Ramsey, and Norris Ramsey. Alice’s legacy is one of love, faith, and steadfast devotion to family. Those who knew her carry with them the imprint of her kindness and the example of a life lived with purpose and heart.
