Roxanne Theresa Pulliam

Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:27–31 NKJV) Roxanne T Pulliam, daughter of the late Delores and Kenneth Stewart Sr, was born on October 15, 1965. God called her home on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. She grew up in a loving household with her two protective brothers, Anthony and Kenneth and her sister who remains her best friend, Rhonda. She often shared stories about some of their ‘crazy exploits’ and no matter what they went through, their mother (Applechips) made sure they always knew it was ‘faith and family over everything’. Roxanne was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Brooklyn Park High School. In addition, Roxanne worked for many years as a Lead Cook in the Baltimore City Public School System until she was no longer able to work. Now while Roxanne could no longer ‘work’ as a cook, it did not stop her from using her talents and gifts as a gift to ‘bless’ others. She was well known for her cooking and baking, and could often be found in a kitchen somewhere ‘cooking up something good’. Roxanne had the spiritual gift of helping and was always ‘looking’ for opportunities to bless someone who was in need. She never sought payment for the services she rendered, but was quick to declare that it was all for the glory of God. Roxanne was blessed with two biological children, Branden and Shavon, who were her pride and joy. She cherished the time that she was able to spend with them and plant seeds of wisdom along the way. For as much as she unconditionally loved her children, there was an unusual and special light that illuminated when she was in the presence of her only grandchild Derren, affectionately called (Tiger Woo-Woo or Man Man). He brought so much joy to her life as they spent time together just in enjoying this thing called life. Roxanne met her “Boaz”, Barry Pulliam over 20 years ago and they got married on September 7, 2013 in their home in front of a few family and friends. Of course, Roxanne catered the entire event herself as she wanted to make sure the food was to her liking. Barry didn’t just tell Roxanne he loved her, but he did whatever was necessary to show it. He spoiled Roxanne so terribly that no matter what they were going through, you can best believe that Barry was going to get out of his side of the car and get to the other side to open the door for his precious “Booka”. Barry nicknamed Roxanne “Booka” because she always made sure he had his favorite Bazooka bubble gum and you could see the joy he had when he talked about his “Booka”. Roxanne simply loved life to the fullest. Whether dining out and spending time with her family, or traveling to North Carolina to see her Father-in-Law ‘Pop’, Roxanne made sure that wherever she was, that is where the party was. Her sense of humor was off the hook and you can best believe that if you did not laugh at her joke, she would laugh herself. For as much as Roxanne loved her family, friends and her husband, nothing compared to the love she had for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Roxanne accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the First Baptist Church of Elkridge under the leadership of Bishop Monroe Simms. She served faithfully with her Mom on the Hospitality and Usher Ministries. She continued growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ when Pastor Alan E. Postell became the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Elkridge and was an active participant in Sunday School, Bible Study and Women’s Fellowship. In addition, Roxanne joined the Mass Choir and enjoyed singing the Songs of Zion. Because of Roxanne’s faithfulness and testimony, not only did her daughter and son end up joining First Baptist, but through her ‘conduct’ not her ‘words’, did she lead her eventual husband and Deacon to rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. In March 2016, The Pulliam’s decided to follow the Lord’s prompting and join Greater Destiny Christian Ministries which was a fairly new ministries founded by Pastor Alan E. Postell. At Greater Destiny, Roxanne continued to work out her soul salvation as she not only was a part of the Kitchen Ministry and Greeters Ministry, but she joined and played an integral part of the Highways and Hedges Street Ministry where she would prepare and serve food to the ‘least, last and the lost’ on the streets of Baltimore. Roxanne loved the Lord and it was expressed in her praise and worship as many Sundays, she would have to be ‘scooped ’off the floor as she would be so overwhelmed with joy when she thought about the goodness of Jesus in her life. Roxanne leaves to her memory, her husband Deacon Barry Pulliam; two children, Branden Anderson & Shavon Parham; two stepdaughters, Trinta Pulliam & Monet Pulliam; one stepson, Nehemiah Lee; two brothers, Anthony & Kenneth Stewart; one sister, Rhonda Oliver; one grandson, Derren Lang; Father-in-Law, Frank Pulliam (Paulette), and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and devoted friends.
