Carolyn Footman

Carolyn Olisa Footman was born on July 15, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Friday, July 31, 2020 after a long battle with health issues. Carolyn was the eldest child of the late George and Pearl Footman. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was a bright star and stood out as a promising student. Carolyn was a very proud graduate of Western High School. She enjoyed singing with the concert choir, especially the annual Christmas concert event. After graduating from high school, Carolyn attended the Community College of Baltimore City. She thrived in the business curriculum, breaking records in Gregg’s shorthand for which she used to propel her career as an administrative professional. Carolyn has always been recognized for her typing speed, analytical skills and strengths in effective communication. Carolyn’s winning personality and warm and contagious smile equipped her with the dexterity to take on the world and this is exactly how she entered the workforce. She began her career with the renowned developer, the Rouse Company. Her position with the Rouse Company would take her all across the country as she was able to thrive in her career and travel at the same time. She started with the Harbor Place project in Baltimore; and then relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She would then end up in New York City where she lived for many years. In 1988, Carolyn decided it was time come back to the city of Baltimore where her friends and family welcomed her back with open arms. Upon her return, she began her tenure with the University of Maryland on the Professional Campus. She excelled in her role as senior level administrative assistant to the Dean of the School of Pharmacy. Carolyn was so full of life and adventure. Her presence brightened any room and warmed any atmosphere. Being in her company was always an enjoyable experience as she had a way of making everyone around her feel special. It was in her nature and an attribute her friends and relatives loved. She was a Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan and shared her love for the teams with her father. She would often take her dad to see the Orioles games. When she was no longer able to take him to the games she would make sure he was tuned in when the games were on television. Carolyn was always very generous and loving. She was a staple in the family. She would always be the first call you get on your birthday. She would be the one to call to make sure everything was in order if you were about to travel. She was resourceful and she was the most dependable person. She would do whatever was needed without question or hesitation and get it right! Carolyn loved her family and friends and she was revered by all who knew her. Her devotion and love has left a void that cannot be filled. We thank God for having her in our lives for the time that she was with us. She leaves to mourn her faithful friend of many years, Virgil Chase; her sisters, Cynthia Young, Cheryl (Greg) Rich; brother, Timothy Footman; nieces, Ashley Rich, Erika Young, Brennae Nixon, Brittany Rich; nephews, Duane Young and Derek Young; great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
