Marsha Marie Bastfield was born to the late Rufus Willard and Annabel (Malone) Mitchell on June 12th 1954 in Baltimore City, Maryland. She departed this life peacefully on December 5th 2019 after a long illness. She is preceded in death husband, Lloyd Bastfield Sr. of whom she known for 40 years and married for over 35 years. Marsha was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools System. She attended Lake Clifton/ Eastern High School. Marsha was employed as a clerk at the Baltimore City Circuit Court. She also worked as a sales associate at J.C. Penny, was a caregiver, and held a position as an Interior Decorator. Marsha was a master cook in the kitchen. She loved making delicious meals for all to enjoy. Her highly requested deviled eggs and macaroni salad can be found at a Mitchell’s family reunion, a birthday party or at a backyard barbeque. She was a woman with a selfless heart and warming personality. Marsha’s interests included decorating, painting, and drawing and was most passionate about gardening. Marsha was known as the black Martha Stewart, a name given to her by her niece Kindra Stokes. Marsha shared a close relationship with her family, especially her siblings. Barbara would call her to talk about anything or just to check on her. Gloria (Jean) would call her for lottery numbers, Angela (Bernie) would make her laugh with her jokes, Diane( Brenda) would call to see what she was doing and her brother Ronald would call to ask about the other sisters. Marsha was indeed the matriarch that kept the family together. Marsha was active within her community and was concerned for her neighbors and her neighborhood. She would sit on the porch with Ms. Gloria, Ms. Alice and Ms. Janice to talk about anything from flowers to family. Her love, compassion, caring nature will be missed by all who knew her. Marsha leaves to cherish her memory: five sons Rodney Sr, Larry Sr, Lloyd Jr. of Charlotte N.C., three daughters, Elder Natarsha, Michelle of Atlanta GA, Teresa of Charlotte N.C. two daughters-in-law, Loretta and Pauline, one son-in-law Anthony, one sister-in-law, Virginia, one mother-in-love, Lucille Thompson, four sisters Gloria(Jean), Brenda(Diane), Angela(Bernie), Barbara(Duck). One brother, Ronald; preceded in death by husband Lloyd Bastfield, Glen Mitchell(brother), a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, special caring friends, Larry and Gloria Glover, Janice Montgomery, Alice Mason, Richard and Tara Mosley and a host of other relatives, devoted neighbors and friends.
