God’s Will In the early morning of October 7, 2022, at Northwest Hospital, after an extended illness, Delmar Maurice Hilliard quietly and peacefully slipped away to his eternal rest. The Beginning Born on January 20, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland to Jenny and William Z. Hilliard Delmar was the fourth son born of this union. His Path Maurice – as he was always known – Reese to his friends and colleagues - was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, a proud graduate of Northwestern High School, Class of 1980. His continuing education garnered him numerous awards and certificates. Maurice was baptized at an early age at the Morning Star Baptist Church, Catonsville, Maryland. He continued his walk with the Lord, joining in worship and fellowship - attending several churches in Baltimore City and the surrounding area. Having begun work at an early age (16), he was a tireless and committed employee who held many management positions. His last position was with ABF Freight Systems as their Operations Manager. An avid Ravens football fan, Maurice looked forward to observing those Sunday games with his sons. He enjoyed nurturing his sons and teaching them life-lessons and skills. If you knew Maurice, you knew how much he loved to bake cakes for his family and friends. On Friday, October 20, 2022, Delmar Maurice transitioned in the spirit realm where he is now totally restored. We mourn his passing but celebrate his life. Treasured Moments Alishia Tolson and Delmar Maurice Hilliard were married on September 15, 1990; two sons were born of this union, Delmar Julian Hilliard and Maurice Jordan Hilliard. Loved Ones to receive Maurice in Glory Received by God first; His father William Z. Hilliard, Sr. brothers, Sheldon C. Hilliard, and Durand T. Canty preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was the man Maurice acknowledges as the person who helped raise him, his stepfather, Larry Canty. He credits Larry with teaching him many lifelong skills. Cherished Memories “When your heart hurts, have faith knowing the angels are wrapping you in their love.” Maurice leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Alishia Tolson Hilliard; two sons, Delmar Julian Hilliard (Reneisha) and Maurice Jordan Hilliard; mother, Jenny Hilliard Canty; two sisters, Michele Y. Bailey and Carol D. Canty; two brothers, William Z. Hilliard, Jr. and Keith A. Hilliard; two godchildren, Sydney and Myles Dry… along with a host of devoted relatives and friends - among them his friend and colleague, Mena Dyches who worked with him at ABF Systems.
