Anthony Wilson

Anthony Wilson born on a Monday, December 31, 1951, in Saint George, South Carolina, to the late John Mckinley Wilson and the late Lizzie Mae Wilson. God Saw that the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so he gently closed Anthony's loving eyes and whispered, "Peace be Thine." He departed his life suddenly on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 12:15 a.m. at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Anthony attended Baltimore City Public Schools in 1971 and graduated from Carver Vocational Technical High School with a tailoring major. He furthered his studies and attended Wayne Community College in North Carolina, where he received his B.A. degree in Business Management. Anthony was not only a soldier in the United States Air Force but also a soldier in the Army of the Lord. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he was baptized at an early age at Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Hammond E. Fews and the late Rev. Russell E. Groves. He attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Wayne County, Goldsboro, NC. Anything his hands found to do, he did it with all his might, "singing on the choir" and Audio/ Video Ministry, ETC. Anthony enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1971. He served 22 years, 6 months, and 5 days, of which 3 years, 2 months, and 13 days were foreign service: Okinawa, Japan; Lompoc, California; Andrews Air Force Base; San Antonio, Texas; Goldsboro, NC; and the Gulf War of Kuwait. In 1993, he received an honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant. Anthony started working at an early age; no task was too big or too small. He was a newspaper boy with his own route. He took pride in cutting grass and shoveling snow. Anthony was employed at the United States Postal Service for 24 years as a group leader. He took great joy and pride in the team that he led. They were his family, no doubt about that. He also worked for Young Men's Clothing Store as a tailor, and Druid Hill Seed Company. Anthony was a social butterfly. He would talk to any and everyone. If you did not know them, he would try to make you know them. Anthony had a huge heart... a giver in many capacities. He was well-known, liked, and respected by many people in the world. He would give his time, services, and opinion to anyone. He went by multiple names.. Eyewitness News, Flip, Tony, and Wilson. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, dominoes, chess, checkers,and playing cards (spades at family cookout gatherings Anthony was the Grill Master at all the family gatherings. We loved and enjoyed his mouth-watering beef and pork ribs, and his world-famous chili was to die for. Anthony was a sportsman, you could not tell him that the Washington Commanders were not the Washington Redskins. Some of his favorite sports and teams were Baseball-Baltimore Orioles, Basketball- Detroit Tigers, Boston Celtics, Baltimore Bullets, and the Washington Wizards. Not only did he watch the sports he participated in them at the Towanda Recreation Center, playing football and baseball. During his time in the Air Force, he played on the basketball and baseball teams. Anthony loved music and singing his favorites, "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" and "We Come This Far By Faith." His favorite sitcom to gossip about were Tyler Perry's "The Have and The Have Nots" and he loved a good western. Anthony was married to the late Sandra Nell Wilson, from this Union they had a daughter, Jacqueline Michelle Wilson, who preceded him in death. On March 3, 2010, he married Vanessa Madden, whom he affectionately called "Bookie" and from this union, Cortney and Sade. Anthony leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Vanessa one son Cortney: one daughter, Sade; 3 Grandchildren, Rosilyn(Donovan), Christopher(Pamela), and Kyle(Pamela). 11 Great-Grandchildren, Jayden, Devaeh, Chrisyiona, Chrishona, Kaden, Kyle Jr., Rhilyn, King, Laya, D'Vionni and Ky'Asia. 5 Siblings Norman, Diane, Maurice(Stephanie), Vernessia, and Rev. Dr's Wayne(Patrice). A Mother-in-law, Juanita Moore, and One aunt, Louise Utsey. One devoted friend, Clyde Hayes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
