Born three days after Christmas at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. Wadsworth Robinson, Jr., age 89, was called home to the Lord on March 7, 2020 at 12:07. He was a second-generation owner of the Orchid Shoppe florist, a business created by Marie and Wadsworth Robinson, Sr., in East Baltimore in 1935. A graduate of Dunbar High School 1949, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Morgan State University 1958, and a Bachelor of Laws from University of Baltimore 1977. He served in the USAF as a 2nd Lieutenant and was Juvenile Service Superintendent for the Southern District of the State of Maryland and proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Beta Chapter. First child and only male of six children born to Wadsworth A., Sr. and Marie E. Robinson, who were pioneers in the florist business in Baltimore City. Wadsworth Robinson, Jr. pioneering resident of Columbia, Maryland, 1969. Husband of LeRay Robinson, Father of Professor Glenn Robinson and Dr. Roslyn Robinson Kellum and her husband Errol Kellum. Brother of Ms. Jean Jones and Janet Robinson Bryan. Also survived by his grandchildren Maya Kellum Solano and husband Melton Solano and Orion Robinson, and Ariel Robinson. He is also survived by 28 nieces and nephews. On February 4, 1949 he graduated from Dunbar High school. He married LeRay Harris on November 11, 1952. From 1950 to 1954 he worked shoulder to shoulder with Wadsworth Sr. and Marie Robinson as a florist apprentice in the Orchid Shoppe located at 1305 East Monument St. On August 12, 1955 Wadsworth competed the Basic Infantry Officer Course and on June 2, 1958 he graduated from Morgan State University with a Bachelor of Science. On June 18, 1967 he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Baltimore. Wadsworth began his career with the State of Maryland in the Department of Social Services, 1963 and retired in 1993. Prior to the Department of Juvenile Services becoming a Department Wadsworth (Robbie) worked for the Circuit Court Division of Juvenile Causes which then became part of the newly formed Department of Juveniles Services. After his retirement in 1993 he took over the Orchid Shoppe Florist on 2305 East Monument street, until 2017. May Wadsworth Robinson, Jr. rest peacefully with the Lord and may the Lord bring strength, comfort and peace to all of Wadsworth’s family of Melanders, Halls, Jones, Bryans and friends.
