Robert B. Springett

ROBERT BERNARD SPRINGETT was born on October 24, 1937 on the beautiful Caribbean islands of St. Kitts and Nevis to the late Melford Springett and Helena Springett. Robert stood as the only boy among six girls. He spent his Sundays attending church and at an early age displayed his love for music. He loved tuning instruments and playing music alongside his sister. His instrument favorite instrument was the guitar. As a spirited young boy, Robert received his education at Charlestown Nevis public school where he received his diploma. At the tender age of 17 he left St. Kitts and Nevis and started a new life in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. There he became a Jack of all trades working various jobs, most memorable hospitality at Grape Tree Bay hotel along and transportation. Sometime later Robert pursued an education in trade and became proficient in pipefitting and carpentry. He then spent several years working for Hess and Exxon companies respectfully. Over the years Robert has made many long-standing friendships. His love of music allows him to pursue a small career as a calypsonian. In the 1980s he decided to start a new life in the USA. He first settled in Florida and then later moved to Texas. In 1981 he met the love of his life, Jennifer Jeffers. A year later he married her in a small ceremony in Baytown Texas. To be closer to family, the young couple ultimately moved to Baltimore, Maryland to start their new life together. There they had one child together, a daughter, Sophia Springett who he loved very much. Being a jack-of-all-trades. Robert utilized his skills as a carpenter and did many home improvement projects over his lifetime. During the spring and summer months he enjoyed working in his backyard garden growing fruits and vegetables that everyone loved. He had pride in his yield and often showed off his harvest, while stating “you ain’t never see nothing like this yet”. He had a passion for cooking and spend most days preparing meals for his family. Robert loved God and never abandoned him. He would often be seen praying, reading scriptures, singing hymns and sometimes while playing a musical instrument he had made himself. He also loved to teach youth. While home he taught the youngest members of his family basic math, English and different languages he learned while in St. Croix. They loved his guidance while he loved to teach them. Robert peacefully departed from this life on June 27, 2023. He was preceded by his son Bobby Jr., and sisters Rosemary Burt, Veronica Carr. Sylvia Thomas. He leaves behind: his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Sophia; sons, Gregory and Craig; sisters, Edna Stout and Illice Weston; numerous nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
