On Saturday morning, October 23, 2021, God in His infinite wisdom called home to eternal rest our beloved Nathan Murray Gundy, III. He is resting in Jesus’ loving presence. Nathan was born on August 9, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Nathan Murray Gundy, Jr. and Lillian Fowlkes Gundy Person. Nathan was educated in the public school system of Baltimore City, graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1981. In 1985, he earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of Dayton, Ohio, and in 1988, Nathan earned his Juris Doctor Degree at Catholic University Law School, Washington, D.C. In 1987, he was Editor of the Catholic University Law Review. Nathan has held memberships in the Maryland Bar Association and The Federal Communications Bar Association. At an early age, Nathan committed his life to Christ and was baptized at Heritage United Church of Christ under the pastorship of the late Rev. Wendell Phillips who became his spiritual mentor. Nathan was a devoted member of New Psalmist Baptist Church for about 30 years. He loved God and his church! He was a dedicated servant and was excited about his participation in the Brotherhood Choir and the Men’s Fellowship – The Authentic Men of God Ministry. Nathan also completed Discipleship Classes, and was at one time studying and considering entering the ministry. Nathan was blessed with having a highly motivating professional career which encompassed experiences in Public Administration, Business Law, Telecommunications and various other areas of Law. His world experiences included positions such as Research Associate, Marketing, Media Specialist, Associate Business Broker and Assistant for Public Affairs and Public Policy, Baltimore City Board of Estimates. At one time Nathan was employed as an attorney in private sector law offices in Washington, D.C. and in Baltimore, Maryland. Most recently, he was Partner and served as Legal Advisor for, R and R Entertainment and M.C.R., Washington, D.C. Nathan was very honored and proud of his assignment as Law Clerk for the Honorable Harry A. Cole, Court of Appeals, Annapolis, Maryland upon his graduation from Law School, 1988. Nathan’s personality afforded him countless friends and associates around the world. His love for God, family and friends was demonstrated by the life he lived and the service he rendered. He exhibited infectious laughter and a “wicked sense of humor”. Everyone thought of him as being kind, gentle, caring, considerate, dedicated to the cause, friendly and very helpful. His relationship with God was evident to his family and friends. He engaged in “Quiet Time” and meditation daily. While at the University of Dayton, Nathan pledged Kappa and became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He was awed by his uncle Walter Fowlkes coming to Ohio to pin him. Nathan, “Nate”, “Bumper”, as he was fondly called by family and friends, leaves a legacy of love, humor, good works and unmatched friendships. Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Nathan, Jr., four grandparents, four uncles, one aunt and two cousins. He leaves to cherish fond and beautiful memories and a legacy of love to his loving and devoted mother, Lillian Gundy Person; one uncle, Charles R. Fowlkes; four aunts, Katherine Fowlkes, Geraldine Fowlkes, Donal Gundy, and Jacqueline Gundy; a special cousin, Marc H. Holmes; and a host of other dear cousins, relatives, extended family and so many, many special, devoted and loving friends.
