Leslie A. McCreary

Leslie Anne Creamery was born on July 30th, 1961 in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Martha Louise Ellison and the late Robert Brown Sr. Leslie went home to be with her heavenly Father on November 5, 2021. Leslie received her education from Carver Vocational Technical High School and would continue on to receive two associates degrees from the Community College of Baltimore City. Twenty years later she received a degree from Stein Academy in Pharmacy Technology. Leslie was passionate about many things and it showed in her career choices. She was a Clerk for the FBI, a Secretary for the Suns of Italy Lodge, and a Daycare Provider, which was her favorite job. Her first self-employed business, “Annie's Daycare Center” was very successful, partly due to the love she had for children and parents. Her self-less and caring nature reflected in her work as a daycare provider for four years, until she had to close her business due to health issues. The parents missed her and were hopeful that her health would improve and that the center would reopen soon; they saw the passion she put into her work and the love their children had for her. Leslie began dating Darnell Ward in 1988 and the pair fell passionately in love with one another. They were married on March 26, 1994 and raised two beautiful daughters. They were together for 33 wonderful years, their love was something you could feel in the space around you, and they expressed it often. She put God first and stayed true to her vows, fulfilling the commandment of God by becoming a great wife/helpmate. Leslie was very family oriented and loved spending time with her family, you could say that she was the patron of the family. Game nights, movie nights, cookouts for no reason, or just gatherings to see family; she was always looking for a way to bring the family closer. She had a beautiful smile that you could hear in her voice, she always greeted you as if she hadn't seen you in a while, even though it was yesterday. Leslie was an exceptional cook it was one of the things she was just good at. She loved to read, almost everywhere she went she always had her nose in a book. Romantic novels were her favorite, she could devour a book in hours. Her fridge was always filled with delicious home cooked meals that hit every taste bud; always had a plate for anyone who came through her door. Leslie battled kidney disease for 21 long years and was a two-time cancer survivor. Throughout all the many trials, she maintained a positive fighting spirit and continued to give God the praise. Her life's motto was, “ I do unto others as if I was doing it for Jesus”. Her love of people and zest for life will be remembered by all those who have known her for years to come. Leslie is preceded in death by her mother Martha Ellison. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 33years, Darnell Ward; her daughters Martha Diana McCreary and Kristina Ashley Ward; mother- Martha Ellison; siblings- Diana Brown, Robert Brown Jr., Daryl Witherspoon, Pamela Witherspoon-Cook, Lorraine Witherspoon; and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and dear friends. She will never be forgotten.
