Felix Lamont Stokes

FELIX LAMONT STOKES was born on April 14, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the marriage union of the late Herman McClinton and Julia Mae (Fedd) Stokes. Felix ascended to glory on December 26, 2023. Felix was the fourth son welcomed into our happy humble abode, with three (3) brothers, Clint, Larry, and Samuel before him and two (2) brothers Gregory and Rodney, two (2) sisters Karen and Phyllis afterwards; our home was the epitome of any child’s playground! Excitement rung out every day of the week amidst bath time, eating time, study time, playtime, and fighting over whose turn it was to get the essence remaining in the cake bowl or the pie bowl!!! Oh yes, for there were many, many, many home made cakes, pies, and rice puddings, for Mom baked so unselfishly just for us!!! While Dad was always working at Bethlehem Steel, Mom was always with us! I remember faithfully these days for there were always an aunt, uncle, grandfather, and dozens and dozens of cousins visiting knocking at our door. We were off to school together, Felix at Samuel Chase #135, Fairmount Hill #453, and Dunbar. Now here comes young man-hood, and guess who carried the music? Yes, no one but Felix! He carried a huge beautiful boom box, lighting up the neighborhood, engulfing good ole “Durham Street!” Felix later, at eighteen (18) years old, bought his first (1st) car, a 1968 olive green colored GTO; for his love of automobiles was always displayed. As time progressed and he grew, he became a fine electrician and always helped Mom in these matters around the home. Felix was and had consistently been personable, friendly, always laughing as his laughter was infectious, and always smiling, helping many friends along the way. Felix, you shall forever be in your siblings’ hearts!!! We love you immensely!!! Felix is preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Stokes, his brother Rodney Stokes, his father Herman Stokes, his grandson Uzziah Ian Stokes (Antwon’s and Kimmette’s son), his brother Samuel Stokes, his mother Julia Stokes, and his nephew/brother Bryon David Ervin (Stokes- David’s and Phyllis’ son). Felix leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Antwon Lamont Stokes (Kimmette) of Roxboro, North Carolina; four daughters Eboni Stokes Whitt of Houston, Texas, Kimberly Veasley (Kerry) of Atlanta, Georgia, Shaniqua Addison (Terrell) and Shayla Stokes of Baltimore, Maryland; a very special, devoted, loving companion, Joyce Whye; twelve grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and many, many, other dear relatives and loving friends.
