Evelyn Louise White

EVELYN LOUISE WHITE (also known as SHORTIE), daughter of the late Charlie Murphy and Alice Murphy was born on June 18, 1946 in Burgaw, NC. Evelyn was the third child of eleven children. Her siblings, James David (Linda), Pam (Ray),James Monroe (Pat), Jerry, Janice (Adell), Mitchell (Arnethia) deceased, Elliott (Ann)deceased, Aileen (Preston) deceased, Elmer (Barbara Lee) deceased, Patricia (Harry Lee) deceased. She departed life on September 17, 2021. Evelyn received her education from CF Polk High School in Burgaw, North Carolina. Following high school, Evelyn moved to Baltimore, Maryland and worked as a seamstress. She married the late Boston Lee White and from this union three sons were born, Eric, Anthony (deceased) and Timothy. She was employed by Blanks Inc. for 32 years before retiring. After retiring, she devoted her time to her passion of sewing. She designed and made her own clothing. She would go to the department stores and look at clothing and say, “I can make that myself”. Sure enough within a week or so she would be wearing her own tailor made outfit that she saw in that store. She also made clothes for others. Evelyn has made wedding gowns and dresses, prom gowns and suits, and any other fashionable designs you desired. She made kids clothing. She got the pleasure of making clothes for her grandkids. She would have her grandkids all dressed alike with one of her designs down to her granddaughter’s doll baby. She was her own interior designer... she made her own curtains, tablecloths, seat cushions and placemats. She also liked to host many of her family functions. She loved to cook. She loved spending time with her grandkids, Eric, Dareion, Deontaye and Dionna. She was very photogenic and loved posing and taking pictures. She has numerous photo albums with pictures she took of special events of family and friends. Her biggest joy was dancing. Once she started dancing you could not get her off the dance floor. She would outlast everybody at the party, young and old. She didn’t need a dance partner; she would be fine dancing all by herself. She was the life of the party. She leaves to cherish her love and memory: her sons, Timothy White, Eric White, and her daughter-in-law, Daliah White; grandchildren, Eric Leon White Jr., Dareion Cali White, Deontaye LeroN White and Dionna Lanae White; two sisters, Pam (Ray)Dunton of South Carolina, Janice (Adell) Hansley of North Carolina; three brothers,James David (Linda) Murphy of Virginia, James Monroe (Pat) Murphy of Baltimore, Jerry Murphy of North Carolina; her longtime companion, Walter Earl Ingram; and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
