David Timmons

Presiding Elder David L. Timmons was the third eldest of seven children born to the late Edward "Eddie" Timmons and Clara B. Carswell on December 17, 1945 in Fort Pierce, Florida On February 9, 2021, in the evening, Elder David departed this life after battling, COVID-19. Presiding Elder David Timmons received his primary education through the public-school system in Bridgeton, New Jersey. While in high school he was on the wrestling team, cross-country team, and the track team and excelled in each sport. He graduated from Bridgeton Senior High School in 1964. Upon graduating from high school, Elder David immediately began working in the field he loves, Culinary Arts. He was employed at Seabrook Farms in Seabrook, New Jersey for 15 years, from 1964-1979 while working there, he gained many skills in cooking. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland, Elder David began working at St. Agnes Hospital for 26 years from 1981-2007 as Head Chef. While working at the hospital he was responsible for serving over 500 meals a day to the staff and patients. After working so diligently, he retired in 2007. Elder David was not one to sit idle, a few years after his retirement from St. Agnes Hospital, he gained employment at Weis Supermarkets in Windsor Mill, Maryland working as a Seafood Associate. He was employed there from 2019-2021. On April 8, 1978, Elder David was united in holy matrimony to the late Adv. Senior Mother Jamie D. Timmons at the Morgan State University Christian Center in Baltimore, Maryland; they were married for 43 years. Elder Timmons was a devoted member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob of the U.S.A., Inc. He was a member for over 50 years. He was a loyal and dedicated soldier and served God's people by cooking in the kitchen at many church holidays and events, such as the annual Convocations, church Anniversary days, Seafood Dinner and Musical Programs, church musical programs and dinners, weddings and other celebratory events. He loved the House of Jacob and was a very active member of the Washington, D.C. congregation. HIs favorite sermon to preach was "Wisdom is the Principle Thing" and his favorite church song was " The Fight is On". Elder David had many spiritual accomplishments, he was Ordained and elevated to the rank of "Presiding Elder". He was a member of four church choirs, the 100-voice National Choir of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, a member of the Baltimore Angelic Singers, the Israelites of Washington D.C. and the Golden Tones. He served on the General Fundraising Committee and as a consultant on the Seafood Dinner and Musical Program Committee, and was a graduate of Bible School in 2010. In addition to his spiritual accomplishments, Elder David was a great chef, musician (he played the tenor saxophone), father and friend. He was always willing to have a conversation and share a joke or two with whomever he met. He enjoyed watching nature shows, football, listening to the oldies, spending time with family, traveling, and cooking. Elder David is preceded in death by his wife, Adv. Sr. Mother Jamie Timmons, his siblings, Eleanora Timmons, E. Ruth Timmons Harris and Annette Timmons. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kevin Timmons (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Deborah Stone Patterson Timmons, Lydia Timmons, (North Carolina), St. Melody J. Timmons and Solomon E. Timmons; siblings Leroy Timmons, Gregory Timmons (Bridgeton, New Jersey) and Carol Timmons, (Mays Landing, New Jersey); five grand-children, Brandon Timmons, Arnold Stone Patterson, Justice Stone Patterson, St. Kayla J. Clarke and Jayden C. Timmons; and one great grand-daughter Naomi Nunn and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
