Bridget Dean

Bridget Dean was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 3, 1949 to the late Shirley Rebecca Wright and William Archie Dean. Shea departed this life on May 3, 2013. Bridget was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools System. She received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in Special Education and a minor in Psychology from Coppin State College, She also received her Masters of Education from Coppin State College. Bridget completed a number of certification programs from Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Penn State University. As an educator for the Baltimore City Public School System , she served in the capacity of Classroom Teacher, Special Educator, ARD Manager, Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Principal. After serving in multiple positions for 39 years, she retired as a Principle of Charles Carroll Barrister Elementary School. Having volunteered tirelessly in her community since young adulthood, Bridget touched and reached countless lives. She mentored teachers and young professionals entering the field of education. She fed the homeless and volunteered with a myriad of children's organizations. As principal of CCBES, she implemented a food pantry for the students and their families, she provided laundry detergent for parents in need, and ensured that each year every student received a winter coat. Bridget used her networking skills to garner donations and form multiple partnerships with wealthy community members to have the entire school renovated. These partners were so fond of her and her dedication that they were always willing to give her whatever she needed to help her students. This included, but was not limited to, and annual Christmas party and Christmas gifts for every child in the School. She would always say, "Every child should know the joy of receiving and opening a Christmas gift". Bridget leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Colleen R. Dean (Lena Bean), who she adored. Six sisters; Deborah Byrd, Denise Asbury, Cassandra Cary, Barbara Levine, Colleen Robinson and Paula Wright. One brother-in-law: Willie Robinson, three aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
